Early Life and Career
Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1949. He is the son of Benzion Netanyahu, a historian and editor, and Tzila Segal, a teacher. Netanyahu served in the Israel Defense Forces' elite Sayeret Matkal unit and participated in the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
Political Career
Netanyahu began his political career in 1988 when he was elected to the Knesset, Israel's parliament. He served as Prime Minister from 1996 to 1999 and again from 2009 to 2021. During his tenure, Netanyahu has played a key role in shaping Israel's domestic and foreign policies.
Netanyahu is known for his strong stance on security, particularly against Iran and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. He has also been a vocal critic of the international nuclear deal with Iran and has sought to strengthen Israel's economic and diplomatic ties with the United States and other world powers.
